About us

Sponsorship ProgramChildren’s Home (CH) was established in 1989 with a mission to provide destitute children a future. The state does not have a welfare system to cater even the minimal needs of the children in crisis. Therefore, mush of the responsibility has been initiated by the civil society and many non-profit organizations like CH to provide a range of services and assistance.

It offers comprehensive support on education, healthcare, security, love and affection to the orphaned, abandoned, underprivileged, and needy children at residential facilities with caring and qualified staff members.

More than a facility or an organization, it is a family.

Its not-for-profit registration number is 480/049/050. It is a non governmental and non political organization affiliated to the Social Welfare Council of Nepal. The head office at Thapathali, Kathmandu establishes and fosters relations with the government agencies, charity organizations, donors, and volunteers.

CH does not receive any financial support from the Nepalese Government and relies solely on the contribution of charity organizations and donations to care for the children under its wings.

Programs - Residential

Sponsorship ProgramThe residential facilities provide comprehensive care and support to its children until they become an adult*. Children are imparted other necessary life skills in addition to secondary or higher secondary education enabling them to be independent as they are integrated in the society as they grow old and eventually leave our immediate care. Non residential support and counseling are extended to the adults long after they leave the homes.

* The Nepalese law has defined ‘children’ as being under the age of 16.

For Young Children and Girls

The infants and the girls reside in a rented facility located in Jawalakhel, Patan. At present, it is home to 34 infants, 20 toddlers and 38 girls. The younger children are taught at the in-house kindergarten school whereas the older girls go to various English medium private schools. Dietician, Pediatrician, Nurse, Counselor, and Tutors provide for other physical and cognitive development of the children while the core care-mothers provide a homely environment for the children to socially blossom.

For Boys

Sponsorship ProgramThis facility was established in 1995 in order to provide the children with a permanent home of the organization. A large piece of property close to the city center of Mahendranagar in Kanchanpur district in Mahakali Zone in the far western Nepal was developed.

It is named Amor Children's Home and is located at Gobariya, 2.5 kms from Mahendranagar city. There is also provision for future expansion projects, job-oriented skill development training programs and income generating activities. The location also serves the most vulnerable sections of the community. Currently, there are 98 boys residing in this facility aged 5 to 17. They all attend private English medium schools in town a few kilometers away.

The region in the Far Western Zone is one of the least developed areas of Nepal. The location was chosen as the land costs and living expenses are lower than the Capital City – Kathmandu. At the same time, this region is one of the least developed with high unemployment, lower literacy, minimum public healthcare infrastructure, and high migration of people for better economic prospects.

All these social and economic factors contribute to the vulnerability of the children needing social security and proper care and upbringing. As the state lacks social security of such vulnerable children they fall victims to child labor, other exploitations and trafficking to India if not cared for by the parents, guardians, relatives, communities and social organizations like ours.

Both the facilities, one in Kathmandu and Mahendranagar, have complete facilities with separate rooms for dining, studying, bathing, washing, and sleeping. A playground, in-door games room, library, toys room, and TV room contribute to the recreational needs of the children.
